Benefits of the Little Warriors Program
The purpose of our after school program is to provide assistance with children’s school work, and to aid parents in helping their children obtain good grades in school. Hwa Rang Kwan training will help your children:
- Improve their concentration
- Increase their discipline
- Build their confidence
- Learn self-defense
- Develop respect
About Our Program
Everyday all the children will take a one hour Taekwondo class. Taekwondo is an official Olympic sport, and this training will help your child in developing balance, discipline, self-defense, and healthy confidence in themselves. Our unique children’s program includes the following development activities:
- Physical fitness
- Character development
- Manners
- Languages skills
- Public speakings
- Structured homework time
- Taekwondo training
Toys and Equipment Policy
Children are advised to leave any toys and personal belongings not used for training or homework at home. Any necessary equipment will be supplied (i.e. pencils, calculators, etc). Children should also come prepared for the various activities they will be involved in. They will also be playing indoors so they will need to dress accordingly.
Homework Policy
Our after school program is dedicated in providing enough time and opportunity to finish all homework assigned. However, it is up to the initiative of the child to complete it. Each session during elective time, there is a homework option for them to sign up. In addition, children may choose to work on their homework during the free choice times of each session. Only during the 15 minute snack time, do we ask that the child refrain from any homework in order to experience a “family” time of eating together with their group.
Activities
Although we support academics, one of our main emphasis is fitness and recreation. The snacks that we provide are nutritional and our programming allows children to be physically active, which we believe leads to success in school.
Pick-up Service
We service many schools, and with the number of students riding in our vans it is imperative that the vans run on schedule. When our after school staff is not notified that a child is sick or does not need to be picked up from school, then a $10.00 missed pick-up service fee will be accessed to the parent.
Van drivers wait no more than 15 minutes from school dismissal time before leaving the school campus. If your child misses the van (stayed too long in class, talking to friends, going to the student store, etc.) The missed pick-up service fee will still apply, and the parent will need to make other arrangements for their child’s transportation. The after school pick-up service is not able to make return trips to schools to get children.
Reporting an Absence
Parents must call the Hwa Rang Kwan After School Program office to notify us at least 2 hours prior to the schools dismissal to report an absence or not to be picked up. Please call our office at (650) 400-3245 to report an absence. When calling please leave your child’s first and last name, date of absence, and the name of their school.
Drop-off and Pick-up
For reasons of safety and logistics, we require that everyone dropping off or picking up a child park their vehicle on our school front door.
Timely Pick-up
We close at 6:00 PM. There is a 5 minute grade period. There will be a charge of $1.00 per minute past the grace period for each child that is picked up late.
Cell Phones
As courtesy to the staff and children, please refrain from using your cell phone while picking up your child.
Payments
Payments are due on the first of each month. A $25.00 late fee per child will be assessed and automatically added to your bill for each tuition payment that is received in the School Age Child care office after 6:00 PM on the 5th business day of the month.
